DDFPe used for successful treatment of shunts in the lung

Pigs had steel beads poured down their tracheas to reduce airflow into the lungs while breathing pure oxygen. Administration of DDFPe increased blood and tissue oxygen levels, and reduced carbon dioxide levels. The effect was sustained for 3 hours, with repeated doses resuming the effect.
